Cervy,

The improvement that I've had after the surgery has been fantastic (Thanks to Mr King at Salford Royal). The most important advice, both pre and post surgery, has been to take care to pace myself. I've had to learn a lot more patience ;) . I've also had to learn to say "no" to certain activities.

Keeping active, within reasonable limits has helped me greatly, as has some yoga, with an instructor who understands degenerative conditions and injuries has been very worthwhile for me.

I hope this helps... If you have more specific questions, I'm willing to share some of my experiences.

This time, my neurosurgeon suggested that removal of one, or possibly two, of the disks from my upper spine will alleviate some of the pain.

When the soft disk in my neck is removed, it will be replaced by a hard titanium disk shaped cage.

So, as an IT consultant, I'll still be having a soft disk replaced with a hard disk....

Funny joke there at the end of the post. ;)

Well, i don't agree with the "worse off" theme of this site. However, does anyone have cervical spondylosis information or resources to post in here? Something simple like treatment methods and the like.

For those of you who have kindly followed my medical story, you might be pleased to know that I've recovered well from the surgery - with significantly less pain, and the neurosurgeon says I can go back to looking for work - Does anyone need an IT Consultant?

The neurosurgeon did warn me that I need to be careful, and not do anything like bungee jumping. When I asked if I could go back to learning martial arts  , he just looked at me - but the look said everything.

It's great to be taking far less medication now. :D

Good to have you back :)

I really can't get over how soon they send you home after surgery these days. My mum had half her thyroid removed and mum in law had her gaul bladder out an couple of years ago and both were sent home the next day.

Thanks for the good wishes.

I'm back home now, but very delicate. I'll really find how things have gone with my neck in a few weeks. At the moment, I'm limited to 20 mins on the PC at one time, so won't do much here, for a while.

Dragonthoughts had the operation this morning and is recovering in a spinal ward. He is already well enough to use a mobile phone to send texts and Skype messages so things are looking promising.

I'll post more news as it comes in.

I hope I'm not going to be left in a worse state... I'm due to have my neck worked on towards the end of June. I'll let you know how it turns out.
